About
This website will teach viewers about the great civilizations that rose and collapsed in Africa. When people think of a great African civilization, Egypt, is usually what comes to mind even to those that study precolonial African history. There were however there were many other civilizations just as great or greater than Egypt that flourished in Africa. Did you know that the empires of Songhai and Mali were the largest states in Africa's history or that the Benin Walls were some of the largest structures ever created by humans? When you think of rich people Bill Gates or Donald Trump may come to mind but did you know that there was a 14th century West African emperor worth $400 billion? Many of these great rulers and countries have long been neglected in history due to enslavement and the racism it caused but now it is time to learn what has been forgotten.
Throughout my life so far the only historical movies, shows and websites I have seen revolving around Africans only dealt with slavery which can be a very painful topic to deal with. Slavery only makes up about 400 years of our history compared to the thousands of years before that of independent African rule and nation building. African empires were great and Europeans knew this which is why during slavery they made sure that Africans never learned their true history and went as far as making Africans believe that they weren't fully human and lacked intelligence. When you don't know the history of your people and are being constantly being labeled as worthless at the same time you are much more likely to perform poorly in life and will think negatively about yourself and those who look like you. Other people such as the Asian peoples of China and India know about the achievements of their ancestors and as a result always strive to do their best wherever they are in life. The point of this website is not to promote African superiority over Europeans but to make more people aware of the historical achievements of African peoples in their motherland. Finally I would like to make something clear to Africans all around the world. Whether your living in the Americas, Europe, Asia or anywhere else always remember that you are an African. For example one person maybe referred to as an African American while another maybe called Afro Brazilian but if you look deep into the ancestry and family tree of both individuals you will most certainly find Africans. The mistake many African people who live outside of Africa make is identifying themselves as anything but African. This website will give Africans across the world reasons to be proud of who they are. I should also mention that the human family originates from Africa, we all share that common ancestor or ancestors from Africa, and we are all quite literally related thanks to that common ancestor or ancestors from Africa.
