 Among the many types of people who should be exposed to ancient and medieval African history include children and for good reason. Children are young, curious and their minds haven't been completely influenced yet. So I want to introduce them to an old show I found that will peak their interest. It is called Tell Me Who I am the Journey Begins and revolves around an African princess in the 13th century who uses a time traveling space ship to escape to the 21st century. Another significant animated film that takes place in ancient West Africa is called the Songhai Princess which takes place in the 15th century Songhai empire and revolves around a young princess who is kidnapped by an evil witch and a medical student named Imhotep has to save her. This was created by an African American named Dr. Edward Robinson. He wanted to show people what Africa was like before slavery and believed that the best way to do that was through animation and film with elements of action, romance, adventure, fantasy and drama.
